Stirling Council has achieved remarkable success in reducing rent arrears and driving income collection efficiencies through its partnership with Mobysoft and the implementation of the RentSense platform. Since adopting the technology the Council has seen gross rent arrears drop by 22%. This proactive approach has not only improved financial performance but also positively impacted tenant well-being and tenancy sustainment.

Council’s results are a testament to how technology can revolutionise income collection processes and deliver meaningful outcomes for both housing providers and tenants,” said Paul Evans, Mobysoft CEO. “By leveraging RentSense’s predictive analysis and automation tools, the Council has taken a proactive approach to managing arrears, reducing evictions, and improving lives. We’re thrilled to see the positive changes they’ve achieved.”

The decision to invest in RentSense came at a pivotal time for Stirling Council. With rising arrears and limited staffing resources meant the council needed a technology-driven solution to address its income collection challenges. The adoption of RentSense enabled staff to focus on cases that required urgent attention, streamlining workloads and improving efficiency.

“RentSense has been a game changer for us,” said Rose Ann Robertson, Income Team Leader at Stirling Council. “It allows our staff to identify and address arrears early, preventing them from escalating and creating financial stress for tenants. “Since implementing RentSense, we’ve steadily improved our performance and are now striving for even greater success. Beyond statistics, this has been about making a real difference to our tenants’ lives.”

The platform’s predictive analysis and prioritisation capabilities have been instrumental in early intervention, with tenant satisfaction with the council’s proactive support notably rising. Additionally, Stirling Council has reported a reduction in court actions and evictions, carrying out just four evictions in 2023/24, the fourth lowest in Scotland. The council’s tenancy sustainment rates have also remained strong, reinforcing its commitment to improving outcomes for tenants.

Beyond reducing arrears, RentSense has bolstered staff morale and collaboration through enhanced reporting and dashboard features. Officers can now better manage workloads and support one another, fostering a more cohesive team environment.
